the child before it coume to the open ayre. It lives not by breathing at the mouth as it doth afterwards and therfore is not in danger to have its breath stopped by this meanes, but now it coms with head forth that it may be capable of breathing. The instrument is with all speed to be taken off that respiration may not be hindred. And why might not this instrument be of good use when the child's head is turned to one side or piched in one flank, as midwifes cale it, to slip over the head and so draw it downe to the birth. But I shall leave that for the preasant. But you may consider that which is said in the case of a dead child. That when nature doe feele the child's head draw right to the birth it [. . .] its self

and all its naturall abillities to healp its self being encuraged by the healp that it finds in the use of the meanes directed. You maye also consider that when nature is asisted in the right way of its working it will not have need of so much strength put to it to help it and therfore then wil be the less danger of horting the child by the use of the instrument. But if any should saye this is a poore week meanes to be used in this case of difficulty, I hope the use of this instrument will not hinder the use of medisin, if upon due consideration there should be need of it, neither will it hinder the midwifes use of har hand if she see cause to forbar this use of this nor will it hinder any [. . .] person the [. . .] he ma[y]
